IB EXPO 2011
Kulturhuset, Halmstad, Sweden
Saturday October 29 at 19.30
Scroll down for info!

Aranis is an acoustic chamber rock group
from Belgium that devotes its time to creating and performing new, adventurous
music. The music is filled with contrasts and opposing themes, dark
and light at the same time. It's beautiful and nasty, simple and complex
with a personality of its own, nevertheless you can hear influences
from a multitude of genres and styles. It is through the combination
of these opposing themes and influences that a contemporary and vibrant
music emerges with a unique character.
At IB Expo 11, three members of Aranis will take part: flute player
Jana Arns, violinist Liesbeth Lambrecht and double bass player/composer
Joris Vanvickenroye. IB had the pleasure to play with Joris a couple
of years ago at the library in Halmstad, a very memorable event.
Aranis have released four albums and Joris has released one CD on his
own, under the moniker BASta!

Having worked with Trey Gunn in March
this year, we realised we had to work with him again sooner or later,
so why not sooner?
Touch guitarist Trey Gunn started out as a pianist, was trained as a
classical composer, picked up the guitar and eventually began playing
touch guitar. Over the years, Trey has worked with The League of Crafty
Guitarists, King Crimson, Pat Mastelotto, David Sylvian, Robert Fripp,
Brian Eno, Tool, Matt Chamberlain, John Paul Jones, KTU and many others.

Guitarist, vocalist, producer (and much more) Jakko Jakszyk
has had an eclectic career, to say the least - encompassing 64 Spoons
(Stravinsky meets the Barron Knights), the Stiff record
label, dalliances with several Canterbury sound legends, a spell with
Level 42, work with Mick Karn, award-nominated BBC documentary maker,
and of the King Crimson alumni project, 21st Century Schizoid Band.
In May this year, Jakko was the catalysing force behind a new King Crimson
ProjeKct, the album A Scarcity of Miracles credited to Jakko Jakszyk,
Robert Fripp and Mel Collins (helped out by Tony Levin and Gavin Harrison).
Just like Jakkos solo effort The Bruised Romantic Glee Club, A
Scarcity of Miracles comes highly recommended.

Morgan Ågren's resume is impressive, to say the
least. He has played with Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, Mike
Keneally, Terry Bozzio, Glenn Hughes, Tony Iommi, The Flesh Quartet,
Fredrik Thordendal, Lars Hollmer and of course long-time musical partner
Mats Öberg, to name but a few, and has been voted No 1 fusion drummer
in Modern Drummer Magazine.

We are pleased as punch to announce the line
up of IB Expo 10, our annual musical gathering featuring IB + specially
invited guests. This year, we have invited the world famous Adrian Belew
Power Trio, Swedish electronica duo Midaircondo and zen-jazz drummer
Michala Østergaard-Nielsen.
Surely, Adrian Belew needs no introduction,
having recorded and toured with David Bowie, King Crimson, Frank Zappa,
Paul Simon, Nine Inch Nails, Laurie Anderson, Herbie Hancock, The Bears
and loads of others as well as keeping up a solid solo career. Adrian
is without a doubt one of the most original electric guitarists ever
as well as being a strong multi-instrumentalist.

Multi-instrumentalist Marco Minnemann is looked upon
by his peers as one of the most gifted, innovative, cutting-edge drummers
on the international music scene today. He has won numerous awards for
his educational drum books and videos and was recently featured on the
cover of the Worlds #1 Drum Magazine, Modern Drummer. Minnemanns
amazing, extreme interdependence skills have propelled him to superstar
status among todays elite drumming royalty. His total command
of four-way independence is unequalled, and his over-the-top drumming
creations are simply mind-boggling.

Bassist Julie Slick is another multi-instrumentalist,
just like Adrian and Marco. She is an alumni of the Paul Green School
of Rock and graduated with a magna cum laude degree from Drexel University
in 2006. She has been a solid part of the Adrian Belew Power Trio since
2006. Julie has also played bass with Jon Anderson (Yes), Alice Cooper,
Stewart Copeland (The Police), Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), Napoleon Murphy
Brock (Frank Zappa) and Ann Wilson (Heart). Last but not least, Julie
recently released a solo album featuring Pat Mastelotto, Michael Bernier,
Marco Minnemann and other fine musicians.

Lisa Nordström and Lisen Rylander Löve
are Midaircondo, the Swedish experimental electronica
duo are a spearhead within the Swedish music scene. The duo balance
between suggestive dreamy soundscapes and harsh experimental attacks
armed with field recordings from all over the world with full authority.

We had the pleasure of working with Michala Østergaard-Nielsen
earlier this year and will do so twice again this year, first at the
city library in Halmstad (see below), then at IB Expo 10. Michala is
a drummer/percussionist with an almost zen-like attitude towards drumming,
improvisation and music that needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

IB will obviously be a part of IB Expo 10 and so will
our dear friends from Italy Luca Calabrese and Christian
Saggese.
